Hi all!
It's been a while since I wrote about VersaMark Dazzle FROST.
During the summer, I visited my family in Japan and also attended the 2nd Annual Rubber Stamp Carnival in Tokyo. How exciting it was!
You won't believe how much people in Japan loves stamps, some people flew, some came by bullet train from all over the country.
It was really hot and crazy, from both the climate and people's excitement.LOL.
But it was like a paradise on the earth and I hope I can come back next year too.
As I promised last time , today I 'm trying another VersaMark Dazzle color,"Champagne".
The pad itself looks dark but when I stamp on white paper, it's almost translucent, with no color except plenty of sparkle from black and gold mica, which makes the color of aged metal.
Anyway , waht can I do with this new toy?
Which paper should I use? Or technique? Hmmm・・・well, I 'll just have to do it before I think too much about it!!
OK.Here's my first trial.
How did I do it?
First of all, I simply stamped some images on middle tone cardstock to see how the "watermark effect" works ・・・looks good.I think the color remains darker than regular VersaMark and I can see the dazzle effect in person(not sure if you can see it in the photo though).
Then , how about darker colored card stock? Hmmm, I still I can see it in person, but the images are not as clear the lighter card stock but the dazzle is still beautiful. It feels like a very quiet tone - on - tone pattern.
It's time to make main panel. I tried it on matte coated paper.
First, I stamped brushed flowers ( from Penny Black ) with Memento BAMBOO LEAVES, and sponged the same ink over the images. Then , I sponged on VersaMark Dazzle Champagne for a finishing touch--Wow!! I can clearly see the dazzle!! It depends on the light direction but when it hits it right , the ink shows very sparkingly( I don't know if this word exists LOL) and looks deeper when it' s not . How should I explain this? It's like a shadow of clear glass, giving it a dimensional feeling. Gee・・・it's really interesting.
It took a little longer to dry on coated paper, but when it's done, it still looks wet and shiny.
Dazzle is not "glittery" but subtle and quiet.
So, VersaMark Dazzle is shinier and stands out more on coated paper than non-coated ; it also stands out more on middle tone paper than darker.
I'll play with this ink again using different materials and techniques and upload here to share with you as soon as I can.
